After registering a growth of approximately 5.3% in FY 2022/23, Uganda accelerated to 6.1% in FY 2023/24, thanks to strong performance in services, manufacturing and construction.

For FY 2024/25 the economy is projected to grow by around 6.2%, with further medium-term upside (potentially more than 7 %) as oil production comes on stream.

To sustain and accelerate growth, Uganda is prioritising agro-industrialisation, infrastructure expansion, human capital development (particularly early childhood education) and preparing for the impending oil & gas boom.

With its young population, growing consumption base, and improving macro-economic stability (inflation running around 3-4%) the country offers an attractive entry point for UK firms looking to engage in East Africa.

Trade fairs and sector events thus provide key opportunities for UK businesses to build local partnerships, showcase innovations and secure early mover advantage in growth sectors such as agribusiness, renewables, logistics and extractives.
