ATA Carnet

An ATA Carnet is an international customs document that allows for the temporary importation of goods without having to pay import duties and taxes. Often referred to as a “passport for goods,” it facilitates the smooth transport of products for purposes like exhibitions, trade shows, or professional use across international borders, typically for up to one year. ATA stands for Admission Temporaire/Temporary Admission, reflecting its temporary nature.

Key Features of an ATA Carnet:

• Validity: Generally valid for one year, during which the goods can be moved across participating countries multiple times.
• Eligible Goods: Goods that can be covered by an ATA Carnet include commercial samples, professional equipment, and goods for exhibitions and trade fairs. Consumable items (like food or materials that will be sold) are not eligible.
• Countries: More than 80 countries are part of the ATA Carnet system, including major economies like the United States, China, European Union members, Japan, and Australia.
